PN-III-P4-PCE-2021-0885 Qualitative, dynamic and acoustic analysis of anisotropic systems with modified interfaces (click aici) - ACADIA, contract no. PCE61/2022
Duration: 31 months (02.06.2022 – 31.12.2024)
The total budget: 250000 euros
Source of funding: UEFISCDI (https://www.uefiscdi.gov.ro/); national competition PCE2021.
The general objective of the project 61PCE/2022 "Qualitative, dynamic and acoustic analysis of anisotropic systems with modified interfaces" (ACADIA) was to explore, through different research methods, the mechanical, dynamic and acoustic properties of wood in the construction of stringed musical instruments, both as anisotropic systems with different structures and interfaces due to the texture and design of the wood, and as multi-body systems whose macrostructural properties give the musical instrument its special acoustic qualities, highlighting the contribution of the surface treatment of the resonance wood in the construction of musical instruments (violins).
The novelty of the project consists in the frontier and interdisciplinary research of resonance wood, as well as of wood treated by surface treatments, modifying elastic and acoustic physical properties, on laboratory samples and on real models (violins).
The operational objectives of the project were achieved through applied experimental investigations with high-performance equipment, with the interdisciplinary research team (earth sciences-forestry, chemistry and materials science, engineering sciences, humanities and art (music), ensuring the transfer of knowledge from experienced researchers to young ones.
